Privacy Protocol, Blind Carbon Copy

Respect email privacy & prevent nasty computer viruses.

When sending a mass email:
1. Put your name in the To: field
2. Put the recipients’ names in the BCC: field. (If you can’t see a BCC field, click on the CC: field and look for the BCC: field at the bottom of the screen).

Privacy & Virus Prevention

Most of us have experienced computer bugs and recall the downtime and expense involved. Circulation of email addresses can spread computer viruses and increase junk emails.

FOIP (Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act; aka FIPPA in some provinces) prevents “the unauthorized collection, use or disclosure of personal information by public bodies.”

Displaying email addresses in mass emails is not generally accepted in business. Show professionalism, prevent computer viruses and protect privacy using blind carbon copy in group emails.
