Electronic Etiquette Encourages Efficiency

Randy was frustrated by interruptions during meetings – especially the electronic ones. To prevent such disturbances, he began to indicate to his colleagues that it’s time to get to business, by pointedly silencing his cellular and scanning the room to observe who followed suit.

Not everyone noticed Randy’s emphasis on electronic etiquette, but they certainly noticed when he paused a meeting for a ringing phone and asked the individual if everything was fine. This offered the perpetrator an exit to deal with whatever situation warranted interrupting the meeting, and it clearly emphasized Randy’s intolerance for cellular disturbances.

Since that day, there’s rarely been another offence. Now Randy, and his team, enjoys the new momentum in meetings and time savings.
