Avoid Interruptions

Dave dislikes being interrupted – especially at work. The open area where he works is often rife with distractions, as his teammates and colleagues frequently stroll by for untimely updates or casual conversations. But Dave decided to turn the tables, by making daily visits to the people who he knew would need to speak with him.

He has since refined his ability to create quiet and concentration even further, by cleverly positioning a plant to hide behind at his desk. Those who manage to spot him are deterred from unnecessary conversation when they see the “work in progress” sign on the back of his chair and the large headphones covering his ears, although few notice that the headphones aren’t plugged in.

Now that Dave’s colleagues respect his need for silence, their conversations are more focused and independent work gets finished faster.
